When parents send their kids to school, they have peace of mind as they believe their children will be safe inside the school premises. This is actually quite true as there are teachers who will look after them. However, the moment they step out of the campus, their safety is no longer guaranteed.
This is what happened to a 12-year-old school girl who got hit while trying to cross the streets. Such incident set off Melanie Gibbons to look closely into the existing school zones. And with her assessment, she highly encourages the RMS to extend the coverage of such zones to further secure the safety of students.
